Frequently Asked Questions

Q.
What can I expect when I go for a massage therapy appointment?
A.
Arrive 5-10 mins early to fill out a health history form. The therapist will ask you what your primary concerns are or areas of pain, then follow with an assessment that will allow them to determine the best treatment plan for you.
Q.
Do I need a doctors referral?
A.
If you plan to pay for you treatment out of pocket no doctors referral is required. If you have a medical plan that covers massage therapy it is wise to call your insurance company ahead of your appointment and ask if your plan requires a doctors referral as each individual plan is different.
Q.
Do provincial health plans cover massage therapy?
A.
No, unfortunately they do not. However, most private drug plans do have coverage for massage therapy.
Q.
Is massage therapy just for relaxation?
A.
No! Massage therapy can treat many medical conditions such as back pain, strains/sprains, tendonitis, headaches, sports injuries and whiplash.
Q.
Can I get a massage if I am already in pain?
A.
Absolutely! If the affected area is too painful the therapist can work around the area to promote circulation aid in healing and decrease pain & inflammation. They can also work on other areas of the body that may be compensating for the primary injury.
Q.
How long is a massage?
A.
Appointments can be anywhere from 30-90mins long. The most common treatment is 60 minutes but this can be determined between the therapist and the client at the time of booking.
Q.
Do I have to remove all of my clothes?
A.
No. This is something that is to be determined on the clients comfort level. Patients are on the treatment table fully covered with sheets and the therapist will uncover each body part as needed or can massage through clothing if that us what the client would prefer.
Q.
Will my extended health care plan cover massage therapy?
A.
Each individual plan is different. It is best to call your insurance company ahead and ask if you have massage therapy coverage, how much per calendar year, if you need a doctors referral and when your coverage renews.
Q.
Do you offer direct billing?
A.
Yes. We direct bill most insurance companies. There are a few exceptions so it is best to call the clinic ahead of time to verify.
Q.
Do you offer gift certificates?
A.
Yes. We sell gift certificates in any denomination you would like.
Q.
How will I feel after my massage?
A.
Most people feel very relaxed. Some people have immediate relief from the pain they were experiencing coming into the treatment. If you have chronic pain/tension and are in need of deep tissue massage, it is possible that you can feel sore after the treatment for one to two days. We like to recommend hot Epsom salt bath and increase water intake to flush out any lactic acid or toxins we have released into the bodies circulation.
Q.
Are there cancellation fees?
A.
Yes. Our cancellation policy states that we require 24 hours notice (some exceptions apply) or the client will be billed for the missed appointment. Also note your insurance company cannot be billed for missed appointment fees.
