Jennifer Banks RCT-C

Jennifer Banks is a Registered Counselling Therapist (RCT-C) and Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), who offers counselling to children, youth, adults and couples. Jennifer specializes in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, stress, self-esteem, relationship issues, oppositional defiant disorder, and coping with ADHD.

Jennifer is also a full-time School Counsellor, offering her services to the Halifax Regional Center for Education. Before beginning her career in counselling, Jennifer was an educator for over 15 years in Ontario, working with children and youth. Jennifer holds many accreditations that make her a wonderful addition to the team, including: a nursing diploma, an honour’s degree in music, a bachelor’s in education and a master’s in education counselling. She is currently completing a master’s degree in administration and leadership.

Jennifer’s therapeutic approach is a client-centred, solution-focused approach using cognitive behaviour therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders.EMDR can change negative, traumatic memories, into more manageable ones that may allow one to live a life free from distress and in peace and acceptance.
